Al Petrick

Al Petrick, a semiconductor industry executive has over 25 years of marketing, business development, systems engineering, IP licensing, mergers and acquisition, ODM / OEM service provider sales experience and is inventor / co-inventor of several patents. Mr. Petrick provides wireless communications system engineering, IEEE standards development, patent analysis and expert consulting for the firm. Mr. Petrick held executive business development roles at venture capital funded startup companies and large corporations. At Harris Semiconductor, Mr. Petrick conceptualized the PRISM IEEE 802.11 Wi-Fi product line, pioneered the technology to volume production. Mr. Petrick developed deep experience in startup and growth phases of new technology ventures: evaluating new market opportunities, building management teams, cultivating lead customers and technology strategic partners, developing business plans and raising venture capital. He is a distinguished panel speaker on wireless technology and an active participant in the IEEE 802.11 and IEEE 802.15 standards organizations. Mr. Petrick is Vice-Chairman of the IEEE 802.18 Radio Regulatory TAG www.ieee802.org/18 which actively monitors and participates in radio spectrum regulatory matters world-world for IEEE 802. He served as Vice-Chairman of the IEEE 802 working group www.ieee802.org/11 for ten years, and as Chairman of IEEE 802.11mb and IEEE 802.11 publicity committee. Mr. Petrick served as technical editor for the ZigBee Alliance, and serves as a liaison between working groups IEEE 802.11 and IEEE 802.15. Mr. Petrick served on a number of Advisory Boards and is co-author of an industry Best Selling text book: “IEEE 802.11 Handbook, A Designer’s Companion”. He holds a BSEE from Rochester Institute of Technology, Rochester, New York and an MBA from Rollins College, Winter Park, Florida and studied business management at Northwestern University.
